New at iVillage -”Astro Boy” I Think they Went Too Far!

Okay, I will admit, I am the first one to be sucked in by cool CG animation and a star-studded cast. Astro Boy definitely fit that bill, so I took my 5- and 7-year-olds to see it on opening day. Maybe I give stars too much credit, assuming they can decipher between a well-written kids’ flick and something that may send inquisitive youngsters to therapy. MORE

    Oh ho, you should have seen the original. I don’t know if Dr. Tenma was in this movie, but in the anime, he builds Astro to replace his son and then promptly sells him to a circus because Astro could never…well, replace his son. In fact, that’s one reason I didn’t go see this movie – I was uncertain as to how much of the original plot they kept.

    Also, Unneccessary Love Interest. Pass.
